Ballet Teacher

Sharing the Passion

While dancing professionally, Tara was privately trained by Patricia Prime FISTD, the Vice Chairman of ISTD and became an Associate member with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in 2004. She later studied music, anatomy, psychology and ballet teaching on the Royal Ballet School’s Professional Dancers' Teaching Course from which Tara graduated with honours in 2008 gaining the Dip RBS (PDTC) qualification.

Since then, Tara has taught the full-time students at the Royal Ballet School’s Upper School, as well as the Senior Associates of the School and is a regular guest teacher at Canada's National Ballet School, where she herself trained as a child. She has taught at Francesca Filpi’s Well’s Summer School in London several times and is looking forward to teaching at the Well’s retreat in Morocco in the near future.

Tara has also taught non-vocational students, helping them achieve their true potential at the Dancemakerz studios and the Canadian Dance Company, teaching children of all levels from ages 3-21. In addition, she has been invited to teach masterclasses at the Canadian Dance Expo, a prestigious annual event held in Toronto, Ontario. Tara’s latest engagement has been to teach at the Canadian Dance Expo’s Teachers’ Seminar. In 2016, she held a talk on ‘What Is Turnout and Why Do We Turnout?’ giving teachers the knowledge to correctly implement the importance of using turnout safely and effectively to their students. In 2017, her topics will include ‘Should Ballet Dancers Hit the Gym?’ and ‘Artistry and Expression Through the Upper Body’.

In more recent times, Tara has started teaching Adult ballet classes through Everybody Ballet and Crystal Ballet in London. She is currently taking bookings for private tuition to dancers of any age or any level.
